Question

Disabling Import prefix when adding files to lightroom mobile

Hi, I see my imported files in Lightroom mobile receive a date prefix e.g. "20230408-" which I need to disable. Interestingly, files imported to Lightroom web do not receive this prefix. Do you have advice how I can disable this automatically generated prefix?

It leads to troubles when I import the rest of the set into lightroom classic while some files in this set are already in Lightroom, but simply with a different filename and they are not recognized as duplicates.

Hoping for advice or recommendations. Many thanks in advance.

What version of LrMobile are you using (Android or iOS), and what version number?

Where are the imported images with the capture date prefix coming from?

AFAIK, LrM does not have the capability to rename images either during import or afterwards, though it does appear that there are differences in the file-naming of phone-captured photos between LrM on Android and iOS.

Hi Jim, the images are coming from Panasonic image app. I just found out it automatically puts such prefix in front of a raw photo's file name on iphone. Such a bummer. Do you have any advice? My issue is that all the images added to my catalogue are not found as duplicates when I import the rest of the set later with Lightroom Classic.

Well, if it's the Panasonic app that's adding the prefix (which presumably you can't change?) then the only thing I can suggest is to either use the app to process ALL the images in the set (i.e. don't split the import between the app on the iPhone and LrClassic on your desktop), or don't use the Panasonic app at all and import all to LrClassic as normal.

What is the Panasonic app used for?
