Disc Space Full

I'm trying to import pictures into Lightroom.  I keep getting told that my disc space is almost full, and that I have to remove pictures to make space.  I've removed over 6000 raw files from my disc, and Lightroom will still not let me import.  How do I get that space?

      I answered my own question.

      Although I deleted thousands of files from my disc, I failed to empty the "trash."

      That's it.  Make sure you empty the trash.
