Disconnected external drive storage leads to import errors once reconnected
Using macOS Catalina (10.15.7) and Lightroom 4.1 MAS x64 [ 20201120-1311-17d302b ] (Nov 23 2020). I haven't yet replicated this issue on more recent versions of macOS and Lightroom.
You have external drives connected to your Mac. You put your machine to sleep (with Command + Option + Eject) which you keep forgetting leads to abrupt ejection of connected external storage devices (a very annoying macOS quirk) even though you just mean to Sleep your machine.
The next day you open up your machine, and launch Lightroom to import some shots from an SD card. Lightroom warns it can't find the storage location you have configured. You power cycle that external drive to get it to show up, Lightroom is happy again.
Except it's not. When you try to import from the SD card, everything seems as if this is a feasible operation, but the fact that Lightroom booted without detecting the external drive storage location means it (somehow) lost system permissions to write to that location.
