Don't want Lightroom to make a copy of the original when I import a new photo

Hi there. I have an issue with lightroom copying photos that are already on my Harddrive (in sorted Folders) and wasting space on my Harddrive. I don't want to you "Move" while importing, because that would kill me initial folder structure. Is there a way to stop Lightroom from copying? I just want my photos in the initial folder on my harddrive and edit them in Lightroom - not let Lightroom screw up my work.
