Hi @Daniel26951781ed2o, thanks for sharing the details and the System Info. A few important points to clarify what likely happened and what you can check next:
In Lightroom (not Classic), edits are saved automatically only after they successfully sync to the cloud. There is no manual “save” step. If an image remains open for an extended period but sync is interrupted or fails, it’s possible for edits on a single image to be lost when the app is closed or restarted.
Since this happened to only one image, you had it open for several days. The edited version is not present in Versions / History / Recent edits. This strongly suggests the edits never completed a successful sync for that photo.
Things to check right now
1. Check Lightroom Web
• Go to: https://adobe.ly/3Ywafj8
• Search for that exact photo and see if any edited version exists there.
• If the edits are not on the web, they’re unfortunately no longer recoverable.
2. Confirm sync status
• In Lightroom desktop, check the cloud icon in the top-right.
• Make sure it says “All photos synced” and not paused, stuck, or erroring.
• If sync were paused or offline earlier, that would explain this behavior.
This is not expected behavior, but it can happen in edge cases when sync doesn’t complete for a specific photo.
Recommendations going forward
• Periodically check that sync is complete (cloud icon shows “All synced”)
• Keep Lightroom updated (9.1 was released recently)
I know it’s frustrating, especially since you already exported the image and expected everything to be safe. If you notice this happening again (even once more), please report it immediately; repeated cases would warrant deeper investigation.
Best,
Anshul Saini
