Exporting Lightroom images with edits onto external Hard drive

Hi.

As my Lightroom cloud keeps filling up so quickly, I'm trying to save my images onto an external hard drive, and have the ability to load it back into Lightroom when I want to continue with my edits. Can't seem to figure out how to do this. 

Appreciate any help.
