External Hard Drive Fan Runs Continuously with Lightroom

Question

All my external hardrive fan seems to run continously or cycle on and off when I am running light room.  I have an external SSD and it happens regardless if I am working in lightroom or not.  If I turn on the computer without lightroom running the drive is silent.  As soon as I open light room the fan starts running and won't stop even if I close lightroom.  The Drive is a G-Drive Pro SSD.  I have not had this issue in the past.  The manufacturer says its not their issue its a ligthroom issue.  Ideas?  Thoughts?  Help?

If you are using Lightroom:Have you moved local storage of originals to the external SSD? This is done in Adobe Lightroom > Preferences, Cache, Storage Location for Originals, Browse button. Is the Local tab currently pointed at a folder on the external SSD?  If you are using Lightroom Classic, have you set it up to store any of the following on the external SSD?The currently open catalog, and the folder containing the catalog, which also contains previews. Any photo or video files referenced by the catalog, including the download destination of cloud-synced images at Lightroom Classic > Settings > Lightroom Sync, Location, Specify Location for Lightroom’s Synced Images, Choose button. The Camera Raw cache. This is done in Lightroom Classic > Settings > Performance, Camera Raw Cache Settings, Location, Choose button.  If the answer to all of those questions is No, then the problem should be unrelated to Lightroom or Lightroom Classic, because if the external SSD is not a storage location for any files related to those applications, they should not be using the external SSD for anything.
