Faces not detected on 1000s of newly uploaded photos

I've been using Lightroom CC across all my devices (Mac, iPad, iPhone - all latest versions) for a few years. On existing images, face detection has been working correctly. A few months ago I added a large collection of scanned filmed photographs (5000+).

No faces have been detected on any of these photos in the subsequent months. These are high-quality scans with very clear portraits in all sorts of situations, so there are definitely faces that should be detected here.

To clarify, these photos are not showing up in the "People" section as new unidentified faces. They're also not showing up as a "Is this person ..." suggestions within people. Finally, they're not showing up as unknown faces in the sidebar when I look at the individual photos.

How can I prompt Lightroom to detect these faces?

Hello @Tomahony

Faces should be detected and groupped together if there are 5 or more of them of the same person.

Try going to the Lightroom App Settings > People View, turn off People View and then turn it back on in a little while.

Best regards,

Elmira

Hi @Elmira22079019r802 thanks for following up. When I visit that area of the settings I notice a rather ominous warning message about "we will delete all your existing face model data from our servers ..."

I assume this won't delete all of the exisiting faces that I have already assigned for previous photos?

This action will reset all of your unnamed photos and possibly regroup them. We took a look at your activity on our servers and are not seeing any problems.   We will not display faces if we can't match at least 5 photos of a single face.   Perhaps that is the issue?
