Question

"Favorites" folders

I use Lightroom desktop, not Classic, which I run on my Mac mini, OS Tahoe 26.2, but I do not interface much with the cloud. In Lr/Local, before I click on Add to Favorites for a folder of images, must the source folder be completely culled, because once the folder is created, I can’t remove individual photos without also deleting them from the HD? In other words, what's the easiest way to move an individual photo into and out of a Favorites folder without trashing it completely? Or, do I have to resort to Finder to accomplish some of these things?

Different subject if that’s allowed: What's the best/easiest way for me to see an image's exif data if the image is a dng (Adobe invention) file without a sidecar?

Thank you.

"Favorites"  is simply a temporary (condensed?) list of folders you might want to reference easily (like a project you are working on).  If you do any Drag&drop of files in 'Favorites' view you are only limiting your browser actions within those favorite folders.

Whether you are in 'Favorites' or 'Browse' mode you are always looking at the same files. (Deleting files is universal)

And yes, you would be better to use Finder to accomplish some  all of these things.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.3, Photoshop 27.5, ACR 18.3, Lightroom 9.3, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.3 .

Personally, I think a simple drag and drop of images from one folder to another, or creating new sub-folders, is just as easily done in Lightroom. But I agree that other actions, such as deleting a folder, seem to require using Finder.
