Question

File appears to be Unsupported or Damaged

I've been in the middle of editing a session with RAW files, and all of a sudden all of the images from the session (including images I've already edited) have an error message "File appears to be unsupported or damaged."  I'm unable to access them in the develop module.  I've restarted my computer, ejected my hard drive and put it back in, and sometimes that has helped.  I'm concerned because it's happening over and over more frequently.

If it had initially said this with all of the images when I imported them, I'd assume it was a corrupt card.  But doing this off and on makes me wonder if it's a Lightroom issue?  I'm up to date on all of the updates.  Any help would be very appreciated!

Thanks

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hey, @Lynsey2636. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

What specific version of Lightroom are you working on? Does this screen appear when you access any folder on your device, or only with specific folders?

Where do you keep the images? External, or an internal drive? Ensure Lightroom has the required permissions on macOS: https://adobe.ly/3J44CRT

Let me know if this helps.
