Question

Fit Button Doesn't Center Image

I am encountering an issue where the "fit" button does not return an image to the frame.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Select an image and open the edit panel
  2. Switch to the Masking section
  3. Make any mask
  4. Zoom into 100 percent on the image and move it around to look at a different part of the image other than the center.
  5. Click the Fit button in the lower right.

Expected Behavior: The image would return to the center of the window and zoom out so the entire frame isvisible.

Actual Behavior: The image zooms back out to its original size, but it doesn't shift to fit the entire image in the frame.

When this happens, I am unable to move the image to fit in the frame when in Fit mode. I have to zoom back into 100% and then guesstimate where to postion the image and zoom back out.

This happens consistently with any type of file format and regardless of whether I am using my MacBook Pro connected to an external display.

I'm using a 2021 MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro Max with 32 GB of RAM.

I am not able to replicate this behavior using your instruction on Mac M1 12.0.1 or Mac (Intel) 11.6.2.

You might consider a preference file reset:

This procedure works for both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.

If you are using Lightroom Desktop it can change the location of your local storage. Please review this setting after resetting preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

Thanks Rikk,

I tried as you suggested, but it did not work. I also tried deleting the locally cached copy of my Lightroom Library. That did work, but only

temporarily. After the images came back in and I was working for a while, the issue came back.

I should also say I have not seen this in Lightroom Classic or on any mobile devices. It is only on my MBP in Lightroom.
