Flagging with X only works sometimes

When I use the X to flag images for deletions, it doesn’t always work and I have to close and restart the app to get it to work. This is on a Mac Studio with the latest software update both with the Mac and Lightroom. Additionally I crashes every 4-5 times, sometimes repeatedly and I have to close the app and generally reboot the computer.

Are you working in Cloud or Local mode? And if Local, where are the images stored? Does it make any difference if you click the icon on the screen vs. using a keyboard shortcut?

Hey, @lynzief. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. Thank you for reporting this, and apologies for the delayed response. I'm sorry you're running into issues with the X key for flagging rejections. I'll need more information to help you figure this out.

What troubleshooting steps have you tried already? Do you know if this happens with a specific set of images in a specific location?

Please share more details about your workflow and the system info from Lightroom. Go to Help > System info, copy and paste it into a text document, then upload and attach it here along with a few screenshots or a short video. Right now, the information I have is too limited to help you.

The only thing I can do is close Lightroom and reopen it. Then it works okay again. This is still an intermittent problem.

What happens is I’m going through a days images and clicking the X to park for deletion and all of a sudden I realize the Xs aren’t there. I go back to where I had left off with the last flagged images and try again to no avail and at that point, close Lightroom.

Thanks for the update. Since the issue is intermittent, it'll be difficult to recreate and even more so to fix.

I've noted your description, and this thread will remain open. If we get a numbered list of steps or specific conditions (such as the number & kind of files, duration of operation, local vs. cloud, first launch, and so on) that trigger the issue, I'll file it as a bug.
