Folders and Albums needed for the People section of LrD.

I would really like to have Folders and Albums to organize my People section of LrD.  I have thousands of people identified in the People section of LrD and right now they are in one long list.  It would be so nice to sort them by client, family, etc using Folders and Albums.  Thanks for listening!

While waiting for such a change to be introduced, you can do some organisation using Smart Albums in LrD. Yes, a bit clunky to set them up initially if you have thousands of people identified, but it might do in the short term to help you organise them a bit better.

Great idea, Jim!  This would also allow me to tag people who are missed by LrD.  I can create a Keyword with that person’s name and use it when creating a Smart Album.  However, I just tried it and when creating a Smart Album, the only option is to match “All” criteria and not “Any” criteria.  Do you experience that as well with Smart Albums?

You can of course use keywords for this, although I was thinking of mainly using the People option, e.g. create a “Family” smart album that contains all the people in my family (though I’d probably separate that into two different albums, one for my family tree and the other for my wife’s).

Regarding the other issue, I’m not sure what type of smart album criteria that you are trying to use. Within any one option, e.g Keyword, you can choose multiple options which operate as an OR function as in this example:

In this example, the smart album will return all images which contain either Jane Doe or John Doe (or both of course). But if you only wanted to see images which contain only BOTH of them you can edit the album to add a second Keyword option like this:

You will then only get any images with contain BOTH Jane and John Doe.

So you can configure the album to do an AND or an OR filter, which may help when setting up your smart albums.
