Using lightroom for iPad: When mirroring the screen of my iPad on a tv via AirPlay on an Apple TV, something strange is happening: after a couple of seconds, the image turns very dark when I view a photo full screen.
as long as the photo is not full screen, no problem whatsoever.
same problem with lightroom on iPhone, with screen mirroring via airtame to the same Apple TV.

any idea?

Lightroom 11.1

Hi @davidkronfeld,

Thank you for reporting this and providing a detailed description of what you’re seeing. After checking internally and reviewing similar community reports, this behavior appears to be related to how screen mirroring via AirPlay handles color management and HDR tone mapping when Lightroom switches into full-screen view. Lightroom itself does not currently have native AirPlay / Chromecast output control, so it relies entirely on the OS and Apple TV pipeline for display handling.

There’s an existing community idea that closely matches what you’re experiencing, where users have reported display inconsistencies when using AirPlay with Lightroom:

I’d recommend:
 • Adding your experience to that thread (iPad + Apple TV + TV model), and that it only happens in full screen.
 • Upvoting it so the product team can better gauge impact and priority

As a temporary workaround, if you haven’t already:
 • Try viewing images via the Apple TV Photos app instead of mirroring
 • Or test disabling HDR / dynamic tone mapping on the TV, if available, and check

Thanks again for flagging this.

Best regards,
