Gallery vs Portfolio

I am a photo hobbyist. In my workflow, I use all versions of lightroom. In sharing photos, I seem to have inadvertently shared some as Galleries and some through Portfolio.

What is the difference between Galleries and Portfolios? Obviously, they look different, but why 2 web publishing models. Do they have different purposes? I only see references to Galleries from the web version of Lightroom.

My portfolio is here: https://geraldstowers.myportfolio.com/
My Gallery is here: https://lightroom.adobe.com/gallery/75d0e183a873431cac5addb13c8f4883

Adobe Portfolio is an acutal website and online venue for showcasing examples of your best work to propspective clients and employers.  Portfolio comes free with most PAID Creative Cloud Plans.  Among other things, you can personalize it with a contact form, your custom domain name (purchased separately) and add your Google Analytics tracking code to it. Also, you can create up to 5 sites with Portfolio for special events and gallery showings, etc...

While Adobe Portfolio does not have its own community forum, most PF users find help in the extensive FAQ & Knowledgebase as well as from a dedicated Portfolio Support team to assist users with technical matters. Portfolio on Adobe UserVoice is for posting feedback and feature requests. See links below.

- Adobe UserVoice - https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html

Hope that helps.

Added to the great info that Nancy has given, yes Galleries are features that are only in Lightroom Web and are just a feature where a selection of Albums can be shared under one link, instead of multiple ones.
