HELP! All of my Lightroom cloud photos are being deleted!

I do not understand what happened here and I'm really hoping someone can help.

I turned on sync on Lightroom Classic to be able to sync a few collections from there into Lightroom (cloud). 

However, for some reason, what is happening now instead is that all of my photos are disappearing from Lightroom cloud. When I opened Lightroom, I could see the # of photos in "All Photos" dropping precipitously, and the number of photos in "Deleted" increasing. 

As soon as I saw that, I hit "pause" on syncing in both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom

What's happening here and how do I stop it? I will try calling Adobe support tomorrow, because they aren't available on the weekend. But if anyone here can help, I'd be grateful!
