How can I use Lightroom 5 on my new Mac purchased in 2026

I have an old intel based CD for MAC OS, and got a new apple silicon MacBook,  how do I get to transfer the serial number to a apple silicon based version?

I can install the version from the App Store but it does not let me enter my serial number.

Tahoe version 26.5.2
Apple M4 chip set

You need to use the disc and copy it to a flash drive to install on the new computer.
That is assuming that LR5 will run on that system (which it may not).

the software on the disk is Intel based, and I am able to get the installer to work, but LR5 just crashed on startup.

Yes, it is possible to install LR5 on the latest version of MacOS, but as you have discovered it no longer runs correctly. I used to keep a copy installed on my Mac systems (for trouble-shooting for users such as yourself), but it stopped working correctly a couple of MacOS versions ago.

I seriously doubt that you’ll find a solution, certainly Adobe won’t be able to help as they stopped supporting LR5 back around 2015. Time to move on to either an Adobe subscription or to a non-Adobe solution?

I’m referring to the serial number that came with the CD that had the software on it

this is a desktop application version, and I did not want to do the cloud base subscription version if at all possible
