Question

How do I move my photos from iPad LR to LR on my laptop and retain edits

I just purchased the Adobe creative cloud package including Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop.  I also just purchased a MAC laptop.   Up until now I have been editing my photos on my iPad using Lightroom.  Both annual subscriptions for the Lightroom and Photoshop on my iPad are going to renew at the end of  October.  I need to cancel these as I now have an annual subscription for the creative cloud package.  I will also start editing mainly on my new MAC.  I have some questions.
1.  When I cancel my subscriptions will I lose the imported photos and the edits or will the same version of LR stay on my iPad because now I have the CC subscription?  I have always imported straight from my camera device into Lightroom. Only after the raw images are developed I saved to Photos on my iPad.  I also have all the photos organized and filed in the LR on my iPad.
2.  How do I get these photos that I edited using my iPad into the LR on my MAC?
3.  And once these photos are on my MAC will they show the edits previously made on my iPad?
4.  I know my photos are in the iCloud.  How do I access them?

I have some photos that have won awards and I want to make sure all previous edits remain intact if possible, and retain originals.  And I don't want lose any of the imported photos that still need to be edited when I cancel the subscriptions on my iPad.

You can either use the Lightroom Downloader Tool to export everything to your hard drive and reimport everything into your new account or alternatively use the shared album and contribute route, which hopefully should work, you could try this....

• Create Album on new account.
• Enable Sharing for that Album.
• Invite email associated to your old account.
• Ensure you give the old account Can Contribute rights.
• Accept invite associated with old account and sign in to old account (in this case I presume it will be on the iPad)
• Add Photos to Album shared from new account.

This will transfer photos over including edits without having to export the photos.
You could transfer all photos to that Album and sort them from there, however it maybe easier to mirror your Albums in the new account and share each one (although you will have to accept an email for each album).

Maybe do a small test.

Aside from that, you should not need to access the photos in Apple’s iCloud at all, this is separate from Lightroom.

Welcome to the Lightroom Community.

I'll try to answer your questions & help you have a seamless transition.

  1. Your original images will be stored for one year after your membership lapses. You can use the Lightroom Downloader app to download your images during that time.

  2. If you get the new subscription on the same email account, you can continue to use Lightroom without moving the images & edits. In case your email account changes, you can follow the steps in this discussion: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based-discussions/move-photos-from-private-account-to-company-account-after-missing-the-migration-in-first-setup/td-p/13095750
  3. Lightroom mobile & desktop create an ecosystem that syncs the original images to the cloud & makes them accessible across devices & helps you work on the go. If you use the same account, you just need to install Lightroom on the desktop & you'll start to see all your images on the desktop too.
  4. Images exported out of Lightroom are not stored in Lightroom directly. When you export developed images, they are copies of the original images. Lightroom stores images on the cloud. You can check all your images here: https://lightroom.adobe.com

I know the answers might not be in the order you have asked, but let me know if they help.

Thanks!
