Question

How to find and remove duplicates in LR (not classic)

I'm finding duplicate files from time to time in my LR CC account.  I have lots of photos (over 20k), so when I found a few, I thought it would be worthwhile to have a way to search the entire catalog.  So far, this is treated as a non-existant issue as far as I can tell.  Any search takes me to LR Classic and the Duplicate Finder plugin.

So, to be clear, I'm talking about cloud-based LR CC, not desktop based LR Classic.

My guess is that there is no official fix, but if someone has found a workaround I'd love to hear it.

Ok, I've figured out what the problem was, for some reason I have a number of the same photos in my library that are in both .HEIC & .JPEG formats.  This sneaks them by LR's duplicate finding by file name.  So, any clever solutions for finding these?

There is no way TBMK to limit a search to only files that exist as both HEIC and JPG.

You can search JPG or HEIC-

Click the Search bar- Choose [Extension] > Select "HEIC", "JPG", etc.

You can search both HEIC and JPG, but you will still only have a visual way to look for two 'identical' images- Not much help if ALL your photos are either HEIC or JPG 😞
