I lost all my albums. They simply disappeared. Where can I find them? why this happened?

Folders are still there, but all of them are empty since yestarday afternoon. Is there a way to recover how I had organized my files or do I need to start from Scratch?

I had the same problem a few months ago when I tried to add Lightroom Classic to my Lightroom setup (just to add print functionality). When I realised that Classic started to fill up my system disk with terabytes of images I removed it, and it took away my albums with it - just leaving empty folders. I just finished today recreating the albums. A complete pain but at least no images were lost.

Hi @Rodrigo.AloSan , Thanks for reaching out to the Lightroom Community Forums! Are you still experiencing this issue? If so, please check into the following:

    1. Check Sync Status: Ensure that Lightroom is properly synced across all devices. Sometimes, albums may appear missing due to sync issues.

    2. Restart Lightroom: Close and reopen Lightroom to see if the albums reappear after a fresh start.

    3. Check Different Views: Switch between different views (like Grid or Loupe) to see if the albums are visible in one view but not another.

    4. Review Backups: If you have previously backed up your Lightroom catalog, you may be able to restore your albums from a backup.

    I hope this helps! ^CH

I tried that but it didn’t work. I have all the pictures, but they are no longer organised as I have organised them along the last years. I feel I only can restart to organise them. It will be useful if you have a backup of how they where organised to Sync that old version of organization. Otherwise, I feel there’s nothing else we can do.

    Thanks for trying tho

     Hi @Rodrigo.AloSan,

Thanks for the follow-up, and I'm sorry your album organization is still missing. I know how much work goes into building that structure over the years. Before assuming it's lost, a few things are worth checking, since the photos themselves are intact:

    • Sign in to lightroom.adobe.com on the web and look in the left sidebar under Albums. The web client reads directly from the cloud catalog, so if your album structure still exists on the server, it will show there even when the desktop/mobile app doesn't display it. If you see them on the web, the issue is local sync state on your device, not data loss.

    • On desktop, check the activity/cloud icon (top-right), if it shows "Syncing" or "Paused," let it complete a full sync before judging the state. A partial sync can temporarily make albums appear empty.

    • Did anything change around the date this happened? For example: a Lightroom update, signing out/in, switching Adobe IDs, a corporate-account migration, or reinstalling the OS? Those events are the most common causes of album structure changes we've seen.

If the albums are not visible on the web either, please share:

    • Your system info from the help menu > System info, and copy & paste the content here.
    • Approximate date/time of the photos disappeared from the albums
    • Whether you have multiple Adobe IDs or recently changed accounts

With those details, we will be able to suggest the next steps.

    Best,
