Question

I'm having trouble syncing between two computers

I feel silly, but I cannot get my photos to sync.  I use my desktop for everything, but I want to use my laptop to work on and show my images.  I can't seem to get any photos to sync, and I've watched many how-to videos and just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Are you using Lightroom CC (the new cloud based version), or are you using Lightroom Classic or a previous version (Lightroom 6)? You posted in the Lightroom CC forum, but I get the feeling that you are not using Lightroom CC at all.

Lightroom CC stores the originals in the cloud, so any other computer running Lightroom CC will automatically pick up those images. You just need to log in. Lightroom Classic and earlier cannot use the cloud to sync catalogs.

Thank you!  Yes.  I'm using the desktop version of Lightroom CC on my mac and my laptop.  I think my error is that I thought I had to sync the laptop in order to see what was on my computer.  But, I must be interrupting the upload process.  That is my assumption for now.  My computer is far from my router so upload speeds are SLOOOW.  I'm going to try again.

If you are synchronizing collections from your desktop computer, then you are synchronizing collections of smart previews to the cloud. If you want your laptop to see those same collections then it will be necessary to login to Lightroom CC using the same Adobe account and that will enable you to see the collections that you have shared from your main computer. Alternatively, you can go to Lightroom.adobe.com on the laptop and login with your Adobe ID and password and see those same collections without having Lightroom CC installed on the laptop.

I guess the first question would be have you uploaded them to the cloud?

Second, be sure you are using the same Adobe ID on both computers.

Third, if you go to lightroom.adobe.com do you see your images?

Thank you!  I have added two collections and selected "sync with lightroom mobile."  According to the cloud, I have 191 images, but only 95 images are in the two albums I have tagged to sync.  And, only about 30 are viewable.  The others are black and have an exclamation point in the middle saying "sync has not finished."

I think part of my error is that I've been attempting to sync both computers.  Am I correct that I only sync my desktop and then will be able to view the images from my laptop?  I'm not sure if I've been interrupting the sync process or if my computer times out for some reason.
