Question

Images Auto-Stacking/Grouping

Just curious if anyone else has found a way to stop images from auto-stacking/grouping in the desktop app for Lightroom? I create duplicates a lot to showcase different photo editing styles and the app is automatically stacking them together so I have to ungroup them.

I couldn't find an applicable setting to turn off in regards to this.

Any ideas?

Hi Haley,

Thanks for reaching out. We are here to help!

Could you please share the exact version of Lightroom? Is it Lightroom Classic or Adobe Lightroom? Have you recently started having trouble with this? Are you noticing this with any specific collection or albums or do all photos are getting stacked if duplicated?

Currently, Adobe Lightroom on Desktop does not have auto-stacking. You can use the keyboard shortcuts to stack or un-stack images quickly.

  • CTRL + G to stack and CTRL + Shift + G to un-stack on Windows.
  • CMD + G to stack and CMD+ Shift + G to un-stack on Mac.

Also, please ensure Lightroom is up-to-date via the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Please let us know if this helps!

Regards,

Sameer K

Hello Sameer!

Thanks for getting back to me.

I'm currently using Adobe Lightroom, version 5.1

It does say it is up to date on the Creative Cloud app.

I am able to unstack the images manually, however I'd like for them not to stack automatically.

I need to be able to see all of the images, so I don't want to have to go through and unstack every time I duplicate an image.

Thanks again!

And to clarify, any images I duplicate are stacking, as well as images created when I use the Enhance option.
