Import issue with Lightroom

I use a Canon R5, and shoot RAW. Images are tack sharp, but once imported into LR they are extremely noisy. I have the current version of LR, and RAW Defaults is set to Camera Settings. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The noise you are seeing is the actual noise in the image. Canon hides it. Canon applies extremely aggressive noise reduction to their jpeg rendering (what you see on the camera and right after import is a jpeg preview built into the raw) that pastes over the details in the image and attempts to hide the actual noise in the image (all camera manufacturers do this but the recent Canons are really extreme). Adobe's default noise reduction and sharpening is very mild and you will want to optimize the settings for the image or change the defaults if that's more your style. Also, people often misjudge the actual noise in very high ISO images by loooking at a zoomed-out view in which Develop can misrepresent the actual noise because of the scaling algorithm used. So make sure to only compare at 1:1. The zoomed out view in Develop on low resolution displays (read lower than ~4k screens) does not accurately represent the noisiness for such images.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
