Import issue with new Edit In feature

I am trying to use the new "Edit In" feature for the LR cloud version with Topaz apps. My photos successfully export to Topaz but I always get a "No Edits Made" error window. I could always manually import the edits, but that is basically the workflow prior to the Edit In feature. I couldn't find any support topics on this issue. Anyone familiar with the parameters to get LR to recognize the edited files or what I'm doing wrong here? 

Additional details:

-My LR library is on an external drive.

-I tried saving the edited image from Topaz in the LR library folder (external drive) as well as other locations on my internal drive.
