Question

Import old Apple Aperture archives into lightroom

I was reading up on https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/migrate-photos-aperture.html where it talks about importing old aperture content into lightroom however when I installed lightroom I do not see an option to import aperture archives/libraries.

Is this possible in Lightroom? What is the difference between Lightroom and Lightroom classic? I tried to download classic but it does not appear to have an option to download/purchase - it just routes me to lightroom.

My goal is to import my old Aperture archives and then re-export to filesystem-based structure to not be locked in to any specific application. If the only option is to upload the entire archive to adobe's cloud thats not going to work for me!

Migration from Aperture and iPhotos was, and is TBMK, only for Lightroom-Classic (and previous versions 1-6 that were formally known simply as "Lightroom").

The current Lightroom (the Cloud based app. aka Lightroom-Desktop) does not have this feature.

There is a method to migrate from Apple Photos to Lightroom.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/migrate-apple-photos-library.html?x-product=Helpx%2F1.0.0&x-product-location=Search%3AForums%3Alink%2F3.6.2

Lightroom-Classic is only available in the Photography Plan 20GB (Not the Lightroom Plan)

You can change plans in your account at Adobe. CHANGE YOUR ADOBE PLAN

If you don't want to use the Adobe Cloud for your photography then Lightroom-Classic is the app you should use.

The install 'button' for  Lightroom-Classic often requires scrolling down the apps in the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

Lightroom (Cloud based) works by storing your images in the Adobe Lightroom Cloud- that is as designed. Although there is now a rudimentary 'Local' mode to edit files stored locally on a PC or Mac.

COMPARE LIGHTROOM & LIGHTROOM-CLASSIC FEATURES
