importing .DNG to Lightroom

Hi, I am trying to import .DNG photos into Lightroom, and no matter which option I choose, add/move/copy, it gets stuck on this bit for however long I leave it.

 

Does Lightoom actually allow import of .DNG files into it? Am I doing something wrong?

I am running LR4 on macOS Catalina 10.15.3

Lightroom 4 is very old software. Running it on the latest MacOS is bound to give you problems. This could well be one of those problems.
