Question

Importing new profiles has no effect, they do not show up.

I’ve made 54 profiles (not presets) in Camera Raw that I want to import into Lightroom (not classic).

Whenever I try, the loading bar appears, the message confirming“54 profiles imported” shows for a second, then nothing. No profiles. Ive done this many many times by now, it never works.

Ive checked that they arent hidden.

Ive made sure to have a file from the same camera selected while looking for the profiles.

Ive restarted LR many times.

Ive restarted my PC many times.

Ive reinstalled LR.

Ive reinstalled Adobe Creative Cloud.

Ive let it sit for a long time to see if that helps.

Nothing I do seem to make the profiles appear.

Here is a short video that shows what happens and the lack of profiles afterwards. YES I know its me filming the screen. I don’t have xbox game bar installed and I could not find it. All I needed was to show what happens anyway, so please excuse the phone video:

In the video you dont see it, but im double clicking on a zip file that contains all the profiles. I made it by exporting the profiles from Camera Raw.

At this point I need some serious support. Does Adobe have that or do I have to hope some regular users of this forum knows what is going on? I could not find a way to contact Adobe directly for support.

Edit: Not sure if this matters, but this is the second time I made these profiles. The first time I did something wrong so they didn’t make my photos look the way they should. But this time I gave them slightly different names and I put them in a new group when making them. That means the exported zip file has a different name than the group containing the first batch of profiles that I made wrong. Ive deleted those original files too. Was that helpful info?

I finally figured it out and I’ll try to explain everything, just in case anyone else could benefit from this. I’m not sure if I should be embarrassed or annoyed, but I’m feeling mostly annoyed.

What I was trying to do was to create some profiles for a full spectrum converted camera. I’ve tried before without understanding exactly what I was doing. Part of that was to download some specific .DCP profiles that someone else has already made. (I’ll post a link if anyone wants it.) This was a year ago. At some point I deleted those .DCP profiles from Lightroom.

Recently I got some LUTS from Kolari Vision and I wanted to make profiles with them. I did two attempts at this and the second one is where I had issues that led to me making this thread. During the first attempt I didn’t use any camera specific .DCP profiles, I just used the standard Adobe Color profile. (Or maybe it was The Neutral one.) The results weren’t as nice as I expected, so I deleted the profiles I had made from Lightroom and remade them in Camera RAW. (The first batch was also made in Camera RAW btw.)

So when I made the second batch, I used a .DCP profile. Then I tried to import those new profiles and that’s when the trouble started. They would not show up. LR said they had loaded just fine, but they never appeared. Read this thread to see all I tried to make them appear.

Then today I thought I would try to make all the profiles for a third time. But before I did that I tried to import the .DCP profiles into Lightroom. Didn’t have much reason too, I just did it. And all of a sudden, the previous profiles appeared! I don’t know why, but they did.

I mean, it seems like the .DCP profiles needed to be present, but I have no idea where I was supposed to have picked up on this clue. (I do have trouble reading lots of text and taking in information, so maybe it was made clear at some point in Kolari Vision’s tutorials or something. The thing res been so much back and forth and links to different tutorials and programs and crap. My mind isn’t capable of taking in all that info and it certainly isn’t able to organize it. So I skim through text and look at screenshots to see if I can make sense of things.

ANYWAY, the profiles are now in LR. Finally.

I still want to say though, LIGHTOOM ON IPAD SHOULD HAVE PROFILE MANAGEMENT TOOLS. Let us add and delete profiles right on the iPad. Please.

This is where the .DCP profile came from. Just in case anyone else is getting into IR photography. Just don’t ask me for help cause I don’t feel qualified. The download link is almost at the bottom of the page: https://www.robsheaphotography.com/infrared-profile-pack

@adobe Can we please just get the ability to add (and remove) profiles on the iPad version of Lightroom? Let us manage our stuff without needing a PC.

(Getting the profiles onto my iPad is the main goal. I edit all my photos on my iPad. I rarely use my PC editing because it’s slow and the screen isn’t that good.)

Today I bought some profiles. They imported just fine. It’s just my profiles that doesn’t wanna get imported.

But the thing is, I’ve sent the profiles to another person, and that person had no issues. So it’s not my profiles that are faulty, it’s something else.

I even formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows. Didn’t help.

I got connected with someone from the senior support team and they got access to my computer. They essentially tried all the same stuff I’ve already tried.

By the end they asked to get a copy of the profiles and I gave it plus a copy of a photo taken with the camera the files are for. They’re supposed to contact me again soon.

After that unsuccessful support session I decided to try formatting my PC and reinstalling Windows.

Guess if that helped? It did not. Lightroom STILL does not show the profiles after importing them. The importing seem to work just fine, the loading bar shows up and the message saying “54 profiles imported” shows up for a second, then nothing. No new profiles anywhere.

I don’t understand how this could happen.

Okay after talking to Adobe support and even giving them access to my PC, no solution was found. The support person is going to escalate this and they are supposed to send me an email at some later point.

I forgot to mention that I also have sent the profiles to another person that confirmed that they work just fine. So there is nothing wrong with them.

Does Adobe have support? Or is this forum it?
