Importing photos workflow Lightroom

hi. new to lightroom..wondering if there is a way to import photos from new imac to lightroom and keep original dates,descriptions and existing folders.  have looked at youtube few times but lightroom wont,or i dont understand how to ,download. thx in advance,

v9.0 - So you are using Lightroom-CLASSIC (Folder based)

Importing existing Photos in Folders to the Lightroom Catalog, and preserve the folder structure etc, is done by using the "ADD" option in the Import dialog.

See this video from Julianne Kost- (*Note the video uses the 'old' name of Lightroom-CC but it still applies to the 'New' name of Lr-Classic)

hi version 9.0

i have transferred all photos to ssd then could reload to new iMac but
there is no info, exif data..just a jpeg # i have 30,000 pics assorted
in folders but redownload is haphazard.???save me please,jim
