Question

In Lightroom Desktop 9.6 (macOS Tahoe 26.6.2), I can't find the Cloud / Local switch. The left panel is open in Grid view, but there are no Cloud or Local buttons at the top (screenshot attached). I'm using the desktop app, not the web version.

I'm using Lightroom Desktop 9.6 on macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. I can't find the Cloud / Local switch.

The left panel is open (I'm in Grid view), but at the top of the panel I only see "Add Photos", then Learn, Discover, All Photos, Albums, etc. There are no Cloud or Local buttons anywhere (see screenshot attached).

What I have already checked:
- I'm using the desktop app, not Lightroom on the web
- Pressing P only shows/hides the left panel
- Full Disk Access is enabled for Lightroom in System Settings
- I quit and restarted Lightroom / checked for updates in Creative Cloud

Has the Local mode moved in version 9.6, or is there a setting I need to enable? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @Fearless_Sunflowerf27b

Thank you for reaching out, and apologies for the experience. It appears that the screenshot you mentioned was not attached to your message. Could you please attach and share the screenshot with us?

In the meantime, I would request that you try resetting Lightroom preferences and check if that helps:

    1. Quit Lightroom.

    2. Press and hold the Shift + Option keys while launching Lightroom.

    3. When prompted to reset preferences, select Reset Preferences.

    4. Once Lightroom launches, check if the issue persists.

Please let us know if resetting the preferences helps or if you continue to experience the issue. We’ll be happy to assist you further.

Thanks, Srishti Bali | Community & Engagement Strategist, Digital Imaging | Adobe
