interaction between Lightroom & Photoshop has stopped working properly

Lightroom v8.5 using Microsoft Windows 11 
 
The interaction between Lightroom & Photoshop has stopped working properly. Chosing "open in Photoshop, now only opens Photoshop and doesnt load the picture one was working on as it used to. If you then load it from the Lightroom option in Photoshop it doesnt save it back into LIghtroom.
 
Also the 'remove person  from Photo' shows up as words, but there is no X to check to actually perform this task.

Hey, @ianm58137015. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Does this happen with a specific set of images imported recently? As a test, create an Album, right-click on it to 'Store Locally,' and try editing images from this Album.
