IPad Pro RAW transfer

Hi all,

I’m having trouble figuring out whether I can upload photos to my iPad Pro and consider the RAW files backed up to lightroom. I upload with default settings from SD card to the iPad gallery, then add the photos into lightroom for ipad by selecting them from within the app. They appear in the desktop version later, but are these the RAW files? I read that the ipad creates JPEGS for the gallery and doesn’t do anything with the RAWs, which suggests lightroom would be importing the JPEGs in and not RAWs.

Could someone please clarify this? It’s driving me crazy not knowing whether it’s safe to delete images from the SD card after uploading to ipap and LR ipad.

    You can also check the filetype that is uploaded, using the iPad. In the Lightroom app, select one of the images and tap on the cloud icon at the top-right. That will inform you of what type of file is held locally (on the iPad) and what as been synced to the cloud.

    Also, in the Grid view on the iPad, a two-finger tap will cycle through various "info overlays", one of which shows file type badges (e.g. Raw, Jpeg, DNG, etc.).

    Perfect! Thank you, now I know I can upload to LR iPad and delete from the card without worry!

    The full resolution images are synced with the Lr CC Cloud in whatever format you shot them.

    When you view them in the desktop version of Lr CC you can view the info which verifies the file extension.
