iPad: synced photos still taking up storage — how to remove them?

I’m using Lightroom on iPad 11.1 to import photos directly from my SD card while traveling. The photos upload to the Adobe cloud, but my iPad storage keeps filling up anyway, even for photos that seem fully synced.

As far as I can tell, there’s no way on iPad to delete only the photos that are already uploaded while keeping the ones still waiting to sync, which feels like a pretty big limitation when you’re on slow internet.

Would there ge a way to delete the pictures that have already been uploaded to the cloud ? How ?

Am I missing something, or is this just how Lightroom iPad works by design? Curious how others deal with this on long trips or with limited bandwidth.

At this point, the only solution I can see is deleting the entire Lightroom app to remove the local files, which would force me to re-sync every album I need to work on while traveling.

No, you do not have to continually delete and re-install the LrM app to manage the iPad storage. Check the box in App Settings>Cloud Storage & Sync tab to enable the option "Only downlaod reduced-resolution" as @JohanElzenga has already advised. Then in the App Settings>Local Storage tab you can use the Clear Cache option which will delete already synced originals from the iPad, but will not delete any as yet unsynced images

You cannot delete the pictures from the iPad, because that will also delete them from the cloud. You can replace the originals by smart previews. You do that in App Settings - Cloud Storage & Sync - Only download reduced-resolution.

So uninstalling the app and deleting the associated files is the only work around to keep uploading new files when the iPad is full ?

Make sure that no images are stored (as smart previews or originals) on the device because you enabled 'Store Locally' for one or more albums, and check that the cache is cleared and its size is set to Minimum in App Settings - Local Storage. If the iPad is then still too full, then I would think that problem is caused by some other apps, not by Lightroom Mobile.
