iPhone upgrade causing cameraroll to be re-imported

I just upgraded my iPhone to an 12 Max. After setting up the new phone using a cloud backup, I went into the Lightroom app and saw that it was trying to auto-import the 12,500 photos that are in the restored camera roll. If imported, these would all be duplicates. So far, 17 photos have been added to Lightroom and these are duplicates. For now I have have paused synching. How do I prevent these duplicates from being reimported to Lightroom?
