Is it possible to edit the same photo in different albums without syncing changes?

Trying to figure out if it is possible to have the same photo in different albums and make different changes to that photo without it syncing across albums Right now each change to a photo syncs across all the albums where the photo is located. 

For example, I want to have one photo with three different crops so I have one album for each crop so I can keep them organized, but that doesn't seem to work...

Is this possible or am I thinking about it the wrong way?
