Question

Issue: Photo merge in failure state cannot be reset for given set of photos

In some conditions, when you check a box in the panorama merge preview window this causes a failed render, there is no way to reset the checkbox or other settings and go back to a functioning state of the preview.

Steps to repro:

1. Three photo merge using "Panorama merge" for photos that are to create a vertical panorama

2. Once the initial preview shows, enable "Fill edges" (for example)

3. The new preview fails after showing briefly, with the message "Unable to merge selected photos"

4. There is no way to dismiss this message except for cancelling. It is not possible to uncheck any box or change the projection. I also don't know why it's failing when the preview looks good for a split second.

Expected result: Either allow me to confirm I'm happy with the preview (which looks ok) or somehow revert the settings and try something different.

Video attached once it is in a broken state as I can't show the initial steps due to the bug. No way to resolve and frustrating experience. Any tips on how to reset this?

Additional information as I don't know how to edit the original post.

If, while the preview is generating, I quickly deselect "Fill edges" the preview renders as expected...

It is possible this is actually an issue with the "Fill edges" feature. I have a video of this but comments don't allow video uploads 😞

Hi @exquisite_sunbeam8584! Welcome to the Community!

Thanks for sharing the video and your system info. Is this issue happening with every image or just the ones you showed in the recording? I'm trying to reproduce it on my end but haven't had any luck so far. Could you also try updating to version 8.1 to see if that helps? Thanks!

Alek

Hi @Aleke , I've updated to the latest available in the App Store on my Mac and still get the same issue. I recall it happening for another set of photos but can't find them anymore. However with the ones in the video is it still happening consistently. Attaching the second video I mentioned before that shows ticking "Fill edges" causes the preview to fail. Also adding the photos causing the issue so you can try and replicate.
