Issue using AI Denoise with masks of People

I've noticed that if I create a mask of a person (using the "People" function, not manually) and then use AI Denoise, sometimes the person identified will change. For example, if there are three people and I have selected the mask "Person 1," who is standing on the far left, after I use denoise the mask will still be "Person 1," but now that is the person standing on the far right. Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks for sending your info! Do you have an example of a piece of media where this did not work for you? So far, I have not been able to replicate the issue, but I would like to continue investigating. Will be on the lookout for your screen recording as well. Thanks! ^CH

Hi Claire,

This was happening with every other shot two weeks ago, and now that I am trying to screen record I can't replicate it! I did update my macOS in the meantime, so maybe it was an issue with my mac? If it happens again I'll let you know, but in the meantime it seems like it resolved itself. Thanks for your attention!

Hi @laurenr42346258, welcome to the Lightroom Community Forum! Thanks for sharing what you're experiencing. Could you please grab a screen recording of what you're seeing? Also, could you please send your system information, a screen recording of the issue, and a numbered list of the exact steps required to replicate the issue? You can find your system info by going to Help > System Info, copying and pasting it into a text file, and attaching it here. Thanks! ^CH

Hi Claire,

To replicate the issue:

1. Choose an image with a minimum of 3 people

2. Create a mask of "Person 1" using Lightroom's "People" selection

3. Apply "Denoise"

4. Look back at the masks - there will still be a mask of "Person 1," but it will now be over a different person

This doesn't happen every time, but it does enough that I found it frustrating.

See my system info attached. I'll add a screen recording in another reply.

Thanks for your attention to the issue!
