Issue with profiles syncing

I edit on both windows and mac machines, with the same profiles available on both. Everytime i edit on my windows Lr and then try and go edit on my mac, it says 'this profile is missing' but they are the same profiles and available on both locally. any fix here? The more i use Lr the more i want to move on.
