Issues with resolution

Hello,

I have a problem that images all of a sudden are low resolution. This is because it is in "smart preview" in local, and "original raw" on the cloud. The implication of this is that everytime I open an image, it takes approximately 10 seconds before it turns original raw on local as well, and the resolution improves significantly.

I guess this is because it has to sync to the cloud everytime? But I never had this issue before.. Is there a way to turn of smart preview function on local? Chat support asked if i had creative cloud installed on computer, but he logged out before i could ask anythin else - will this improve the situation?

I have V7 of adobe lightroom.

Thanks,

Andreas

So the support canceled the chat again........

Does anyone have any idea? This is not working for me. If I can only edit smart preview in the app, I will never be able to export to the highest quality?

Nothing to worry about regarding exports. If you have the original in the cloud, that will always be used for exports. Ditto regarding editing, any local smart preview will always be replaced by the original when editing, provided of course that your system is not running in offline mode.

Generally, I don't notice the switch from smart preview to original when editing, but I guess that'll be image dependant. So if you do notice the difference, and the delay waiting for the original to download and replace the smart preview is unacceptable, you have a couple of options:

1. Use the Preferences option to "Store a copy of originals". That would store a copy of ALL your cloud images on a local hard drive, thus getting around that delay.

2. Or, if you don't want to store a copy of ALL originals locally, you can do that on a per album basis (right-click on the album name and choose "Make Album Available Offline"). Once you have finished with working on that album, you can then uncheck that option and the images will gradually revert to the smart previews being held locally.
