Lightroom 6.4 Unable to Play Some Videos

Fresh Windows install (21H2), fresh Lightroom 6.4 install. I just signed up for the trial yesterday.

Most of my videos play fine, however when attempting to play some videos the preview is a blank grey screen and I receive the message ''Unable to play this video - it requires a component that isn't available for this computer''.

The file I am trying to play is a .mpg and it plays in VLC player fine. File properties attached.

I am moving all of my photos from my MacBook to Lightroom, however this issue is a showstopper and I will have to cancel subscription if this issue is not fixed.

Without a copy of your video it is hard to say what the issue is.

  • MPG; MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 compression formats only

Is it possible your video has an unsupported compression format?
