Lightroom 9.x freezes on Apple M4 Pro Mac mini

I'm having trouble with Lightroom 9.0 and 9.1 on my Mac mini with an Apple M4 Pro. The app freezes during use, while versions 8.5.1 and earlier work fine.

System details:

Mac mini with an Apple M4 Pro

Processor: 14-core

GPU: 20-core

RAM: 64 GB unified memory

Storage: 1 TB SSD

macOS: latest update

Tested Lightroom Classic versions: 8.5.1 (stable), 9.0 (crashes), 9.1 (crashes)

Is there anything I can do about this? Are there any solutions?

Best regards,
Marek

Thank you for sharing the screenshot and details, @Marek Stachowiak. Just to clarify one important point:

• The screenshot you shared is from the Apple crash reporter, not the Adobe crash dialog
• Apple crash reports are automatically sent to Apple and are useful, but they don't reach Adobe directly

If you don't see the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog appear, you may have selected an option to not show the dialog. Follow these steps to set the preference to Always Show This Dialog:

• Go to Application Folder > Adobe Lightroom CC

• Cmd+click the Adobe Lightroom.app icon and choose Show Package Contents.
• Select Contents > Frameworks > AdobeCrashReporter.framework.
• Cmd+click the alias named AdobeCrashReporter and select Show Original.
• Double-click Adobe Crash Reporter (Red A app icon, not the black AdobeCrashReporter UNIX executable file).
• Choose Always Show This Dialog and click Done.

Next time, when Lightroom crashes, and the Adobe crash reporter appears, please submit it and ensure it's sent using the same Adobe ID you use here in the community. If Lightroom only hangs and macOS shows the Apple report (as in your screenshot), then save a copy of the full crash report text and attach it here.

You've already done the right thing by sharing the System Info. Thank you for that.

To help us narrow this down further, could you please also provide:

• A short screen recording showing your typical workflow just before Lightroom freezes or becomes unresponsive

– For example, what tools you're using, whether you're importing, editing, browsing, or exporting

– Try to capture the moment leading up to the freeze, even if the app doesn't fully crash

Once we have:

• The workflow recording

• The Apple crash report Text

• Any Adobe crash report, if it appears

We can pass this along to the product team for further analysis, especially since it only reproduces on Lightroom 9.x on Apple M4 Pro.

Thank you for taking the time to gather this; it really helps move the investigation forward.

Best regards,

Hey, @Marek Stachowiak. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. I couldn't find crash reports submitted with the account you've signed in to on the community. If you encounter a crash dialogue, please submit it along with your Adobe ID. Check here for more steps: https://adobe.ly/3Wpjx0B

Before Lightroom crashes next time, please share the system information from Lightroom Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Awaiting to hear from you.

Thanks!

Thank you @Sameer K  for the tips, and of course I will do that, but I need to reinstall the newer version to do so, but for the sake of the cause I will do it.

Best

Marek
