Lightroom AI Denoise / Noise Reduction stuck and no longer works

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask if anyone has experienced this issue and knows how to fix it.

For more than two months, I have been unable to use the Noise Reduction (Denoise) feature in both Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. When I select the option, the program starts processing the image, but when it reaches around 20% progress, it stops and never completes. There is no error message; it simply gets stuck and does nothing.

I am using RAW files, as I always have when this feature was working correctly.

I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom, but the issue remains. I also tried removing and reinstalling the Adobe Camera Raw plugin version 14.5, but the Noise Reduction feature is still not working.

I know I am not running the latest version of Lightroom, but my system only supports up to Lightroom version 8.5.1, which is the version I currently have installed. The strange thing is that this feature used to work perfectly on the same computer and without any issues. It suddenly stopped working some time ago.

My system specifications are:

  • macOS Ventura 13.7.8
  • Processor: Intel Core i7
  • RAM: 16 GB

I really hope this issue is not related to my hardware, as I was previously able to use the Denoise feature without any problems on this same computer.

I have not been able to find a way to contact Adobe support directly, so I am posting here hoping someone can provide some guidance on the cause of this issue or the steps I can take to fix it.

Thank you very much.

@Sameer K  Thanks, but it didn't work. The only solution I found was to install an older version of Lightroom Classic (14.0). I won't be updating the software again for now, and I just hope it keeps working.

Hey, @Palo38996082kv6v. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Given that I can't recommend reinstallation because of the macOS on your machine. Here are a few other directions you can take:

Generally, if Denoise previously crashed or hung, Camera Raw writes a TempDisableGPU3 sentinel file. You can go to the following location:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/GPU/

Follow the steps here to manually troubleshoot this: https://adobe.ly/4yJwbs6

If none of the steps help, the only option is to update the macOS.

    Thanks!
