Lightroom Albums Disappeared

Not the synced photos, which are visible under "All Photos," but my albums. Not accidentally deleted; they were present yesterday afternoon. I closed Lr Cloud normally and when I re-opened it last evening the albums were gone. Can't fix this with a regular web search, as that's all about finding lost photos, while I'm looking for lost albums.

I have a very recent backup, but there are so many Adobe files with esoteric names that I wouldn't know where to begin looking for files to restore.

Lr 9, Mac mini M4 Pro running latest Tahoe.

Thanks!

Hi @David_Illig, thanks so much for reaching out!
If you’re using Lightroom (and not Lightroom Classic), your files should be stored in the cloud rather than locally. Could you check Lightroom Web to see if your files appear there? It would also be super helpful if you could share a screenshot of what you’re seeing so we can better understand the issue.
Thanks!
Alek

@Aleke, thanks for responding!

I don't think that I made my meaning amply clear. It's not the files ("All Photos") that are missing, but the albums. The attached screen capture from Lightroom Web shows one album; there were a dozen or more. Note that a few of the cloud photos are visible to the right. They're all there when I select "All Photos." That tells me that they are still in the Adobe cloud; only the information about my albums has disappeared.

About that one album, named "EOS R5 Cameras:" I did not create that album and move photos into it. It appeared on its own after my albums disappeared. It contains photos from numerous camera types, scans of slides and negatives, and donated photos from other people. I would never have put such a varied collection of photos into an album with that name. or any other name. I don't want to sound smug or rude, but I know how to manage, manipulate, and edit photos in both Lr Cloud and Lr Classic. I understand the difference in purpose and use between the two applications. Virtually all of the photos in my Lr cloud app have been synced from Lr Classic.

Thank you again for taking time to reply.

Hi @David_Illig, thanks for your patience!
That’s definitely unusual, especially since your photos are still there and it’s just the folder structure that’s missing. Quick question, did you happen to migrate your account from another one? Or were those albums originally created in a different Lightroom app, like Lightroom Classic or Lightroom Mobile?
Also, just to be sure, please double-check that you’re signed in with the correct Adobe ID.
Thanks,
Alek
