Hi.

I have the Photography plan and last night updated Lightroom CC (2.0 mac), but when I checked today there are still no faces in the people album.

Is there anyone who can help and tell me what's wrong?

Thanks

Jan

Hi Jan. All the indexing is done server-side. It may not be fully complete for your account but I suggest waiting a few days. If nothing changes after launching the app several times please let us know. Adobe support may then be able to check through the back office.

According to lightroomqueen, the new cloudbased facerecognition works "much better" than the old lightroomclassic localbased version. Lets hope that is true!

I'm in the USA, and am also waiting with much anticipation for the face recognition in my library to complete (or at least show signs of progress). The faces that had been recognized by Lightroom Classic that I assigned names to before migrating them to Lightroom CC showed up in the People section in Lightroom CC immediately when I installed this latest update, but photos aren't being added to those sets nor are additional folks showing up needing names assigned.

The upside to all this is: I'm really excited about this new feature, and grateful that Adobe has added it! Just a few days before the release someone asked me to dig up all the photos I have of just them with one other person, and I had no idea how I would achieve that without manually combing through my library one photo at a time (I haven't had the time or discipline to do something like manually add a tag for each person in every photo, or any other strategy). This new functionality should make that sort of search much, much easier.

The downside is, of course, that it hasn't actually detected faces in the vast majority of my library, so I can't actually leverage this great new functionality in any useful way yet.

To give Adobe some credit, there may be legitimate technical reasons why they couldn't run the recognition before the release. However, I don't think there's a good excuse for the poor communication to customers around this. I think we'd all be less confused and frustrated if they provided better documentation/communication on how this is being rolled out. Some form of visibility into whether progress is being made on the detection within each of our libraries would also go a long way.

I've spoken to Rikk Flohr, who is the Adobe representative dealing with this issue over at the official Adobe feedback site. He confirmed that the indexing work is still in progress, see this link for the official word: Lightroom CC: Please add face recognition | Photoshop Family Customer Community

Im also waiting and I'm from sweden, maybe they are doing other parts of the world before Scandinavia? Or do we have Scandinavians here with the people view already fixed by Adobes servers?

Strange that almost all of the questions regarding this in the forum are from Scandinavia. Maybe we are last in the que or maybe we are super impatient. Still no People View here either, Norway...

It seems quite a few people are seeing this. The feature doesn't appear to have been ready for launch... especially with it all happening server-side, surely this could have all been done prior to switching on the new tab in the app. I just wish there were something in the app  to show some progress, any indication that anything is happening...

    Hi 99jon.

Thank you for your answer. I may waiting a few days and see if something happening.

By the way, It is only 230 photos in the library.

    Thanks

There's currently a limit for showing clusters in the People View, i.e. only clusters that contain 5 or more instances of a particular face will be shown. Is it possible that with only 230 images there are no faces that will appear in 5 or more images? If there are, then you may be waiting for the indexing to be done (I imagine the servers are pretty busy doing that for all users that have upgraded).

One way to check is to open up the keyword panel and step through the images one by one, any indexed faces will show above the keywords section. If there are none there, then the indexing hasn't been done yet.
