Question

Lightroom CC Export Res Mobile vs Desktop

Hey everyone,

I already read a few posts regarding the export difference between CC and Classic but couldnt find an answer to my question.

Lightroom CC reduces the quality and file size of my Images drastically it I export them on my Phone (Google Pixel 2 XL) and Ipad Pro (2018) compared to exporting them on my Desktop.

As an example a photo that gets exported on my desktop is about ~8MB when I export it at max Resolution while it ends up beeing about 2-3MB when exporting it on my Phone or my iPad.

Do you have similar issues or know a ways to solve that? I cant send 2MB files to clients...

Hope you can help me out,

Robert

When you export from your computer are you exporting from Classic or Lightroom (cloud)?

The resolution you get when exporting from your phone depends on where the original full resolution file lives. If you have synced the image from Classic, only a smart preview resides in the Cloud. Therefore the largest file you can export from your phone will be 2048px.

I'm only using the non classic Version that's available for as a mobile as well as desktop app.

Hi Robert,

Lightroom uses a defined Compression Setting & Lightroom Classic uses a user-selectable scale for compression.

The default for Lightroom's JPEG output is Quality 90 for all sizes, including custom. However, in Lightroom Classic you can take JPEG's quality upto a 100. That's why the file sizes vary.

Yes I got that but that wasn't m question. I'm not even using Lightroom Classic so why is there such a big quality difference when using the non-classic CC app on my desktop? That should be the same result as I get on my mobile devices.

I’m guessing that the mobile version has a different default compression setting. The pixel dimension should be the same though if you export at maximum size.
