Question

Lightroom CC slow performance on Macbook Pro 15' - Get it fixed!

Dear Adobe,

I use a 2017 maxed out Macbook Pro 15' (latest OS, latest LR CC) and the performance is soooooooo slow. Scrolling is so super laggy, so much that it makes me not want to use the app anymore on my computer. Instead, I use my iPhone and iPad.

Clearly, this is an optimization problem and LR CC is smooth on Windows machines. If you do not get this fixed soon, I will switch completely to Capture One Pro.

I know many other people have the same problem using a Mac, so please do not advise me on checking the cache size or weather I have checked the box to use external graphics. For this price, I expect a working app. I do not expect you to come out with great features very fast, but please, make the app usable on apple machines.

Sorry for all the rage, but it is really frustrating. It takes away my joy for photography.

Best,

Simon

    Hi Simon,

Sorry for a bad experience with Lightroom CC, let us help make this right.

Couple of things you may check:

    • Which mode are you browsing your images in "Photo Grid" or "Square Grid" ?How much storage is showing up as available in the Preferences> Local storage menu?
    • What is the Photo cache size?
    • Making sure that you have the latest version of Lightroom CC installed.

    Regards,
    Sahil

    Obviously I am not Simon.

But I experience better (not "good"!) performance while using the (uglier) square grid. The photo cache is 246 GB.

But – what gives? Just tell us  when the performance update is coming, because it has to.

I am having the same issue, and raised it on this other thread:

Thumbnail scrolling very slow with Mac OS Mojave

I even install High Sierra to see if that helped, but the performance was the same.
