Question

Lightroom CC upload takes a loooong time

I like the new Lightroom. Classic just feels dated (just my opinion). And while I love the feature that all my photos are backed up in the cloud, the upload time is insane for even 50 or so photos. Dropbox can upload these in minutes, seamlessly, without having to be 'open' (obviously, it is, but it's seamless). On the other hand, I have to leave Lightroom open (as far as I understand) and pretty much let my computer sync overnight. It's become a hassle.

Does anyone know if Adobe is working on this?

Just to clarify, I'm talking about sync speed. Import speed is fine. If all my local copies are sync'd (and they are), it's not downloading anything. The only thing I can think of is that Adobe must be throttling the upload speed.

I just timed a sync'd photo. 1 photo = 4 minutes. That's insane. Dropbox takes seconds for the same photo and the same internet, so it's not upload speed. And while I know upload speed is variable and this isn't exactly a scientific test, 4 minutes is a long time. Granted, the files are big (A7riii), but this is unacceptable.

What are the steps you are taking to add photos? Are you adding them from a memory card, or a local hard drive? If you are adding from a memory card the images have to first copy to your hard drive. That could slow things down.

Do you have the preference to store local copies turned on? If so I would turn it off and see if your upload speed increases. Store local copies downloads what is in the cloud. I’m thinking that could be competing with the upload.
