Lightroom Classic / Cloud - Sync mistake - help!

I've been using Lightroom Cloud for years - recently I've moved to lightroom classic, but all my (20,000+) old images are still in lightroom cloud.

Becuase the sync would take forever and destroy my harddrive In lightroom classic I clicked 'stop syncing' on all my lightroom albums.

now in lightroom cloud - those albums... 7+ years of edited photographs across hundreds of albums - are now completely empty.

I am extraordinarily panicked that in a few clicks, I've erased years of professional work and client albums totally unintentionally. If these albums are empty and the photos are gone, I genuinely don't know what I would do.

how can I fix this??!?!? please help

Unsyncing a collection in Lightroom Classic will delete the corresponding album in the cloud, as you noticed. That does not necessarily mean the photos were deleted as well, however. Albums/collections are just lists, like the playlist of a music player, so deleting an album just deletes that list. Check 'All Photos' in the cloud. Because the photos were downloading to Lightroom Classic when you did this, and many did not finish or even begin downloading, this is a bit uncharted territory, but there is a chance that your photos are still there.
