Question

Lightroom (cloud) will barely process video. Extremely slow

I use Lightroom, not Classic, daily to process photos.  I am now trying to process video from my Canon R5 and it runs so slowly that it is unusable.  I simply want to do some basic clip trimming and color adjustments.  While I have been able to do those things, I have to wait a minute or more just to open a different clip to apply edits.  I have done everything I find online to speed up LR, but nothing seems to work with video.  What am I doing wrong?

Using Windows 11, a 8 GB graphics card, 32 gb RAM.

Thanks!

Hey, @Lane23499113pawo. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Lightroom from Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Does this happen with videos imported recently, or stored locally? What is the duration of the videos?

As primary steps, try this:

  • Unplug additional displays & use only one by default.
  • Go to Lightroom > Edit > Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor > Set it off if it is on Custom or Auto.
  • On Windows, you can also set GPU Performance to High Performance.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Thank you, @Sameer K

I have changed the settings you listed.  I get a warning however that Enabling GPU in the Preferences will improve performance? Attached is the system info.

These are clips recently uploaded, from local storage. Duration of clips is only 30 seconds or less.

Still getting exceedingly slow performance.  Just opening a video clip takes a minute or more.
