Lightroom continues to freeze up and stops responding. It opens but anything I try and do freezes the screen

I launch the lightroom app, i attempt to edit a photo, the screen goes white for a second and then it says lightroom is not responding.

A minute or so later the screen looks normal. I attempt to edit a photo and the scenario repeats. This has happened 10-15x in row.

The not responding has always happened but usually only a couple of times in row.

I tried to update the app and that didnt work either

Hey, @Ethereal_soldierdbc1. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Lightroom from Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Does this happen with freshly imported images, or after you've applied specific edits to the image, such as Lens Corrections?

    As primary steps, try this:

1 - Unplug additional displays & use only one by default.

2 - Monitor the Activity Monitor/Task Manager for any unexpected read-and-write operations.

3 - In Lightroom Classic/Edit > Catalog Settings > Metadata > Automatically write changes into sidecar files, check whether this is enabled, and see if unchecking it helps.

4 - Check this detailed response from our Expert: https://adobe.ly/4g6Cb4j

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!
