Question

Lightroom Crashing Repeatedly.

I am facing a persistent issue with Adobe Lightroom where the application crashes repeatedly without saving my work.

Initially, I assumed the issue was related to a specific photo, but the crashes are now occurring consistently across multiple files. The problem seems to happen specifically when I use the Object Selection Mask feature.

Previously, Lightroom used to lag significantly while working on similar tasks, which was already quite disruptive. However, the situation has worsened—Lightroom now crashes entirely, and at times my system becomes unresponsive with no option other than force-closing the application.

This is severely affecting my workflow, especially during editing sessions.

Kindly let me know:

  • Possible reasons for this issue.

  • Any known bugs related to Object Selection Mask

  • Recommended fixes or settings adjustments

  • Whether this could be related to hardware acceleration, GPU usage, or recent updates

Looking forward to your guidance and a resolution

Hi @master_raindrop5361,

Thanks for clearly explaining the issue. I understand how disruptive repeated crashes can be. To help us investigate this properly and involve engineering, could you please confirm the following:

• When Lightroom crashes, do you see the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog?

– If yes, did you submit the report?

– Please confirm whether you entered the same email ID you use for this community account so we can help track it internally

• Please share a short screen recording showing the workflow leading up to the crash, especially when using Object Selection Mask, and submit the crash report again.

• Copy and paste your System Info from Lightroom

– Go to Help > System Info

– Paste the full details in your reply

Once we have confirmed the crash report, system information, and workflow details, we can forward this to the product and engineering teams to determine the cause of the issue and advise on next steps.

Looking forward to your update.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini

Thank you for addressing my issue.

Below are the requested details. Earlier, I suspected that the Object Selection Mask was causing the problem, but that does not seem to be the case. This appears to be a generic issue, as I am unable to work on even a single image—Lightroom crashes without any warning, and in some cases, the system reboots. The issue occurs in both Lightroom and Lightroom Classic.

Adobe Crash Reporter:

When Lightroom crashes, do you see the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog?
No, the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog does not appear.

Please confirm whether you entered the same email ID you use for this community account so we can help track it internally:
Yes, I am using the same email ID for my Adobe Creative Cloud login and this community account.
